Well, it has been a restful couple of weeks but we are back at it full steam. I hope that everyone enjoyed the holidays and are now having a great start to the new year. Before Christmas we were over in China for the first comps of the year. It went fairly well for me but there is still lots of work to do. I ended up 11th and 7th giving me a good start to the season. Now we have made our way to Calgary Alberta, for a World Cup this coming weekend. Moguls will be Friday and Saturday night, with Aerials on Sunday the 10th(saving the best for last:). Our team arrived a bit early to have a 3 day camp over the New Year celebration. That means that I celebrated the beginning of 2010 Maritimes style so that I could get to bed a a decent time:) As for qualifying for the Olympic team, I am feeling very good. The team will be selected the third week in January and we still have 3 competitions to produce some sweet results. It will be so important for me to stay rested and healthy, keeping up with the maintenance that all athletes have, and continue to fight to the end. I will keep you posted on my progress. Take care and HAPPY NEW YEAR, it's TWENTY-TENNNNNN!! --Amber |

Hello, hello, In about three hours I will be getting on an airplane and heading to China. After an awesome fall training camp at Apex Mountain, our team is ready and set to kick off the first competition of the season in Changchun, China. We are still in the qualification period for making the Olympic team and every contest counts! We plan to arrive a couple of days early in China, so that our bodies have a bit of time to adjust to the time change. Most athletes have a few tricks up their sleeves to help them out because it is so important to be sharp and to perform your best at these competitions. I like to think that I am pretty good at dealing with jet leg, so perhaps mental trickery plays a role in this as well. As I mentioned before, our fall training camp at Apex Mountain went really well. I am healthy and have lots of energy to hammer out a great season. I was able to train the jumps that I needed to train and work on some small details to get me ready for our first competition. I feel so good, I am even excited for the crazy long travel day that I have ahead of me. In my spare time over there, I will get my competition schedule up and running on this site. Sorry for the delay. I hope that everyone is getting in and enjoying the holiday spirit. Take care~Amber |

It's official, we have started our fall snow camp up here at Apex Mountain! The site was up and running early for us and the weather has been great. The fitness camp leading up to snow, went really well and I am ready for a killer season!! This camp now, will get me ready for the competitions this year. I will apply all of my summer technical training to my snow jumps as well as keeping up with the fitness and mental aspects as well. The days can be long with the early morning hill work, jumping, visualization, fitness and proper planning but it is a package deal and I wouldn't want it any other way. The first competition that we are preparing for, is a World Cup over in China. We will head there around December 11th and compete on Dec 19th and 20th. I will keep you posted on the training in the meantime. Have a good one---Amber |

Hello Everyone, My apologies for the lack of updates over the summer. However, I am back into the swing of things and I will be keeping you posted during this very important year for me. I had a great summer of training, back in Lac Beauport Quebec, that has given me the confidence that I need for this winter season. I was out for a month with a sore back but I am feeling tip top now and ready to go. For the last month (October) I have been in Kelowna sweatin' hard at the fitness camp while we wait for snow. Now November, and it is looking pretty good up there at Apex Mountain (Penticton), to start our on snow training camp. We will be training up there until early December and then off to China for the first competitions of the year. It's a big one and all of the athletes are itching to get going. I will keep you psted as our camps continue. Take care---Amber |

Well, another season has come and gone and the Olympics are just around the corner. As some of you may know, the qualifying period to make the Canadian Olympic Team has begun and will run up until January of 2010. My season started out really well and my training was awesome. Although, midway through the season I had a knee injury that stopped me from performing at my best. It took me out of one competition and I wasn't jumping at 100% for a few more. By the time World Championships rolled around I was feeling quite a bit better and I jumped well there. I qualified fourth on the first day but wasn't able to hang on to the good result for the finals. This past year I did not get the results that I expected. I understand that a few obstacles were thrown my way, although it is still far from being over. This just means that I have left myself with a bigger challenge for next year, which I am ready to take on!! It is one of many parts of the sport that I love. ---Amber |

Hi Everyone, Well the season is coming to an end, although before that happens, I still have to take care of some important business. Since World Championships our team has had 10 days off before making our way to Vancouver for our last training camp of the year. We are jumping up at Cypress Mountain on the same site where the Olympics will be held in 2010. This will help us gain experience and bond with the site. The camp is off to a good start. I have had a few days to get back into the swing of things and I am looking forward to hammering out some sweet jumps. There is an awesome work crew up there to help us build and maintain the site. Since the weather at Cypress Moutain tends to change hourly, the extra help to clean the airsite and get it ready to go, is so appreciated. This allows the athletes to save their energy for the jumps that they will do each training day. After the two weeks of training we will then compete at National Championships, where I will defend my title from the last few years. The aerial event will be held on Saturday, March 28th with moguls on the 27th and 29th. If you are in the area feel free to come check out the event, the location is great for spectators! I hope you are all enjoying the site and getting the information that you require. If you ever need anymore information you can send your questions or suggestions to

World Championships in Japan |

It is February 27th and I have made my way to Inawashiro, Japan for World Championships 2009. Travel went really well and now I am following the routine to get over jet leg and best prepare myself for training and competition this week. The coaches headed up to the site to work on the jumps and after a core and cardio session, I will head up as well to go bond with the site. This venue was one of the stops during last years World Cup circuit and I got my best result of the year here. At times, the wind can pick up and be quite strong but overall it is a great site! It is ski in and ski out from our hotel, great little gym for our workouts, good pool for me to get my cardio sessions done and all of the other amenities that we could ask for. I am very excited to be here and I am looking forward to making to most out of every opportunity. As far as my injuries go, I am keeping up and possibly ahead! My MCL is slowly but surely getting better and everything else is just a matter of some "TLC" each night. At this point in the season rest is a big part of the weekly plan and is just as important as the technical and mental work. This competition being the last major event of the year and World Championships for that matter, I am happy to say that I am still feeling great!! Good results haven't exactly been a part my season so far but am still sharp and ready for this event. The year is not over and I still have some goals to accomplish and I will do just that. Take care---Amber |

We have made our way to Russia!! We have just travelled from Vancouver after competing at the World Cup event at Cypress Mountain. We were at the venue where the Olympics will be held next year and is was great to have more time to jump and get a feel for the airsite. I didn't compete my hardest degree of difficulty due to my MCL injury a week before, although I was feeling good with the tricks that I was competing. Even though I missed finals, I am very happy that I was able to get back on my skis and jumping again. Now that we are settled here in Russia and have adapted well to the time change, we head out for our first day of training today. We are about 11 hours ahead of everyone at home depending on where you live in Canada, but with all of the ways of communicating these days I am still keeping in touch with family, supporters and of course, blogging:). I have been looking forward to coming here for a very long time and I hope to get out and see some of the tourist spots before we leave on Sunday. Our event is being held in the city of Moscow next to the University. They have built a huge structure out of scaffolding that can accommodate racing, snowboarding, mogul and aerial events. They use cranes to get the snow up to the top and a lot of workers to build the jumps and get it ready for us to fly high. It is pretty spectacular and from what I hear, the crowd will be filling the streets around. I will keep you posted on the week. Take care---Amber |

Hello Everyone, Well, we have made our way to Deer Valley, Utah after the Canadian event up at Mont Gabriel Quebec. Once again the organizing committee there did a great job at putting on the event! The crowd was cheering loud and the athletes were going BIG. The week was great for me but didn't end off too well. I made it into finals, although for my last jump of the day I landed a little short and tumbled forward. It is all part of the sport but unfortunately I hobbled away with a knee injury. I sprained my MCL and now have some rest ahead of me. It just needs time so I will take this weekend off from the Deer Valley contest and see how I am feeling next week at Cypress. It just so happens that some of my family had decided to come and watch me jump this week. They blend the visit in with a ski holiday so even though I am injured they will still have a great time of the hill. Since I am not competing I will have more opportunity to spend time with them and I am really looking forward to that. I hope that the cold snap wasn't too bad the last couple of weeks and that everyone is having a great season. Take care---Amber |

Another great week of jumping! |

It is Monday morning and our team is packing up to head to our next event in Mont Gabriel , Quebec. We have just finished the competition in Lake PLacid NY, where the weather was very cold off the start but ended off being warm and perfect jumping conditions. The event ran yesterday afternoon into the night, with finals around 7:30 pm. I had a great week of training and my first competition jump was good, putting me into finals. I was pumped with how my jumping was going and feeling good for my second contest jump. I hit my take off and I felt great in the air, although I wasn't able to put it to my feet as clean as I needed to. I ended up placing 11th which just happened to be the lucky winner for the random drug testing:) Overall, I am still fired up for this 2009 season. I know that I still have to get some better results and I am not satisfied with yesterdays performance but I am set on my goals and I will achieve them. For results check out www.fisski.com Take care!---Amber |

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope that the holidays treated you well and that you are enjoying getting back into the swing of things. Close to the end of the holidays our team had a training camp out in BC for a week. We dealt with some difficult weather although the training still went well. I have now made my way to Montreal, Quebec, with two other teammates, to compete at the NorAm event. Recently our World Cup schedule had some changes, so our coaches thought it would be a good opportunity to get some extra training/competition in at this NorAm.
We had amazing weather on all training and competition days and I was so excited to be able to jump so much. The first contest day I landed both of my jumps and placed first with a score that I am very happy with. Today (second contest day) I competed my highest degree of difficulty in tricks, for the first time together. It was so much fun competing those tricks together and even though it wasn't the score I was looking for, I still placed second and walked away very satisfied with the weekend.
This week, I will be heading to Lake Placid NY for the World Cup event taking place on Sunday. I will have two or three days of training before the contest which will give me a good chance to get used to the site and confident with my tricks. Following that, the tour takes our team to Mont Gabriel Quebec, Park City Utah, Vancouver BC, Russia and Japan.
Keep checking the site for the latest news. Take care:)---Amber

We are four days into our fall training camp and everything is going smoothly up here at Apex Mountain. The site is all built and looking very good. We had a little bit of rain yesterday, which isn't the best for our jumps, but there is still lots of snow for us to work with plus we are JUMPING!! Along with jumping, our schedule has it so we head down the mountain to Penticton B.C. for weight lifting sessions and pool workouts every couple of days. When we are down, we make stops for groceries and other basics before heading back up the mountain to get ready for the next day of training. Besides the start date being postponed by a week, the beginning of the winter season has been great. This camp will run until December 10th where then, we will start to make our way to China for our first competitions. The competition days are Dec. 19 &20 and then right back to Canada to spend the Christmas holidays at home. I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of winter and thanks for checking out the site. ---Amber

Fitness testing....check! |

After our three weeks off in October we made our way out west for a fitness camp and testing. It was a great camp with a lot of lifting, plyometric exercises, aqua jogging and the testing went really well. I am now doing as many aqua jog sessions as I can because it is so nice on on the joints. It is a great opportunity to give my body a break from all of the impact that our sport involves. So now that we have completed our fitness testing, it is time to start jumping on snow! I have made my way up to Apex Mountain with the team and soon we will start working on the air site. Unfortunately the snow that fell last week melted, so our start date was pushed back a couple of days. It has now cooled off though and the snow guns are running so we won't have to wait much longer. I will be back to update as soon as we have our first days of jumping. Take care. ---Amber |

I have just come back from the water ramps after having jumped the first session of our September camp. It was a great first session and I am very happy to be back. I am taking the time to get used to the jumps after having a long break, before I start working on my harder tricks, but I will be there soon. The weather was nice today and we are all hoping that it holds up for one more month:) ---Amber |

It is a nice Sunday morning here in Quebec and I am getting ready for training tomorrow morning. I have just come back from some time off, where I spent it up at Sylvan Lake and Calgary, Alberta. After my time out west, I am now feeling refreshed and ready for our next training camp. I will spend another three weeks here in Lac Beauport(outside of Quebec City), keeping up with water ramping, strength training and getting ready for the winter season. This will be the last summer camp for this year and I am looking forward to making the most of it. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Take care. ---Amber |

This being the first blog, I would like to welcome everyone and say thanks for coming to check out the new site. I hope you find the information that you are looking for and if you have any more questions feel free to contact me. I have made my way to Lac Beauport, Quebec for the summer training. I have just finished a month long camp of fitness after having had a couple of treatments on my knees, which all went very well. I feel that the time off that I had was beneficial to my body and I am looking forward to this camp. Yesterday was the first day jumping into the pool for me this season. I was so happy to be back that I couldn't wipe the grin off of my face all day. This camp will go for four weeks, with trampoline and weight training sessions and I am feeling ready! I hope everyone has a wonderful summer, I know I will! Come visit again soon. ---Amber |
